About Us

Wilcox & Periodicals Co was established in 1974. We are a worker-run collective that publishes and distributes research based journals and other research driven material. We distribute and print a large variety of Indian and international journals representing over 100 Indian research journals, most of them exclusively. This includes names like Journal of the Indian Anthropological Society, Journal of Surface Science and Technology, Indian Journal of Theoretical Physics, The Quarterly Review of Historical Studies and The Journal of the Indian Academy Of Philosophy.

We have a unique understanding of the needs and concerns of researchers, the academic community, and accordingly we offer various ways for researchers and help them gain exposure for their publications and help academic explore to network with other like-minded researchers.

Our Work Culture

As mentioned before, Wilcox books & Periodicals Co Is a worker run-Collective. So, all the work, from sweeping floors to answering phones, is shared. When the telemarketers call and ask, "who's in charge?" the answer is: everyone. Our goal isn't profit (although we do have to pay the rent). Our goal is supplying the latest research to as many academicians as possible. The books and other media we distribute are published by our presses, not the corporate giants. We make them widely available to help you make positive (or, hell, revolutionary) changes in the world. As you probably know, the stuff we carry is less and less available from the corporate publishers and chain shops.

We’re small: a few people who work long hours for less money, because we believe in what we do. We’re here to propagate the latest research, which is reflected both in the books we sell and in the way we network with our business partners. Decisions at Wilcox are made collectively, from whom we will distribute, to what we distribute and how we structure our labour.
